Back to School!

Well... It's almost time to go back to school and I have to admit.. I don't think I am gonna miss all the bickering!! This year I have decided to take pictures of my kids before the first day of school. I am taking a stand against cruddy school pictures!! This year... I order my own! Check back for the boys!

You have to start some where!

All my life I have been fascinated by photos. I love looking at them and I love taking them. So I guess that it suits me to become a photographer. Of course I didn’t know that early on. I think that I have done pretty much every job on the planet and I was never satisfied so I decided to be a stay at home mom. Oddly enough that is how I got into photography. Back in 2004 I put my daughter into dance classes at Roni’s Dance. It was almost recital time so the girls were having their pictures taken in costume by Roni’s husband Patrick. I received the pictures back a little time later and they were the most unbelievable pictures I had ever laid eyes on so I went immediately to the photographer’s website (www.patban.com) and I was hooked. When my brother got engaged in 2005 I told them that they had to book Patrick. So they did, and of course the pictures were amazing! This brings us to Decemberish of 2007. Patrick posted that he was looking for an assistant for weddings. I immediately sent him an email.. But I had practically no experience.. other than using those throw away cameras.. haha! Obviously he didn’t email me back and someone else got the job. Fortunately for me his new assistant didn’t last and Roni wasn’t about to step in as “assistant for free” again. I took my daughter to her dance class in late January when Roni approached me and ask if I was still interested in the assistant job… I said yes and on Feb. 29, 2008 went with Patrick on our first wedding. It has been a wonderful 2 years with Patrick and he has been an amazing teacher and friend. We have done over 60 weddings together and we are still having a blast! Over this past year I have taken on a few side jobs and I am excited to do more on my own!
